Toronto-based electronic producer LoukeMan steps forward with his second feature-length release to put on an auspicious display. With a vibrant and colorful aura that augments the dreamlike soundscapes present, Sd-2 is an album that transports you to a brand new world within his music.

Standout Tracks: Baby You're A Star, Winzzz, 6ix, Idrk

As a follow up to his self-released debut, Sd-1, LoukeMan combines his sequencing prowess as a DJ with the emotion and feel of an aspiring indie act to create this wonderful blend that seamlessly infuses acoustic instrumentals with electronic energy.

Starting from the top, you can tell this album is meant to take you on a journey through sound and space. Kicking off with the hypnotizing, folky twang on Baby You're A Star, and riding out all the way to the shoegazing closer, JUMZZZ, this album provides the soundtrack for an existential experience. The lead song is a left-field favorite. With a banjo-like guitar and the repetitive sample looped together, it brings up drowsy memories of those ultra late nights with friends where you throw on some real extraterrestrial shit, and after taking a second to sit, the music locks you into this unspoken trance. And from there the hypnotics only get deeper. The spaciousness of the synths on this album leave a vast expanse for the imagination to play around. And the drums certainly thump, but not so hard they shake you awake. Just enough to keep you in line before the sudden switch up to the next scene. Some tracks, like Winzzz take on a more upbeat, dancier, vibe. The kind of song you can bump your head to in your daze. Others are ethereal, ephemeral. Songs that grab hold of you and deliver you to a whole new world for a short, but memorable, time.

To me, this album is more a soundtrack than an album. Aside from being fully instrumental, save for vocal samples, each song takes you to a new space, a new scene to envision as the music chants its entrancing words to you. There's something to be said about the filmic qualities of the production. The lightness of the instrumentation leaves just enough room for your mind to occupy the beat. Instead of most music where you are simply an observer, being played to by the artist. LoukeMan instead makes this an interactive display, one that ensures that you, the listener, are always included in his presentation. You don't just have a front row seat, you're a full participant of the show in a mind bending, fourth wall and fourth dimension breaking sort of way.

Verdict: in the rotation - the vibes are just right for this tape. Alone or with friends, this hypnotic album hits just the right spot to get anyone's brain tingling.
