Quick Hits: RAGING BULL EP
LORDY! - There's a new three piece special on the menu. Getting served up today is Raging Bull, the concise EP from DC lyricist Lordy (formerly known as ANKHLEJOHN) and Toronto-based production duo Bane Capital. Released October 2023, Lordy & Bane deliver a elegant and swift one two punch to the eardrums with this project. Named for the legendary Scorsese screenplay, continues the theme, depicting a boxer knocking his opponent clear out of the ring. Clocking in at a thin seven and a half minutes, each song feels like the start of a new round in an abbreviated title fight.
On the tape Lordy reveals an effortlessly diabolical flow within the crisp, scenic production space expertly curated by Bane. He delivers blow after lyrical blow, portraying visceral storytelling through three short tales: Acronym, Symphony of Sorrow, and The Italians. With the latter being the standout of the trio.
Although this EP is a short one, you can go back to it at any point. As either a stand alone or thrown in a curated playlist these tracks are sure to stand out on the very first listen, and I advise you to check it out for yourself if you're looking for an effective fix.
